We're Home

May 26-31st, 2010

We finally made it home! What a trip. We caught a flight on Thursday to Hong Kong and stayed at the wonderful Regal Airport Hotel. It really was a nice stop. Next time you find yourself in Hong Kong, I would highly recommend it! We left early on Friday morning to Tokyo and on to Atlanta.

Lilli Kate was a trooper. She slept most of the way on the flight. I don't know how she did it. We had a seat for her, so it worked out really well to have the extra space. I have never been through so many security checks in my life. I cannot count the amount of times that we were scanned and checked (even for fevers before entering Hong Kong and Atlanta!). Atlanta was the worst of them all. I certainly understand why it is needed, but it makes for a long and tedious task after being on such a long flight. However, Lilli slept through most of it!

After security, customs, immigration, security, etc. in Atlanta, we finally headed up the escalator at the airport to meet the family. Logan was so excited to see us and we were certainly excited to see him (and, of course, the grandparents as well!) Lilli Kate did decide to wake up to meet her new big brother, Nana, Pop Pop and Ama.

We arrived home to signs in our yard (courtesy of Logan Smith and the Bonkowskis). It was so nice. Thank you to everyone.

Lilli Kate immediately took to Logan. She absolutely adores him and he has been such a great big brother already. He has been practicing his boxing so that he can knock out "anybody who might want to take Lilli Kate!" He has been quite helpful, although he has maintained his position that he will NEVER change a dirty diaper, even in an emergency situation! I really don't blame him.

The jet lag has kicked our tails! It is especially hard because Lilli believes that she must wake at 2:00 am our time, have a bottle and play for a couple of hours! I fell asleep for about a 5 hour nap on Saturday. Yes, I did say a 5 hour nap! Not quite sure it qualifies as a nap if it is over 1 hour, but it felt like I had been knocked out!

Today, Monday, has been much better. Lilli Kate actually slept until 4:00 am this morning. We will see how she does tonight. She has been so happy and giggly. She seems to be taking to America very well. I think she is going to like it here. How could she not? She had her first visit to Target today.

Thanks to everyone for the posts and support while we were away. It really helped us to stay in touch during this process.

I will try to keep everyone updated on our continuing transition now that we are home!

Love.

Waiting, waiting and more waiting...
