We have made it to China, albeit one day later than planned. Our
flight out of Honolulu Tuesday morning was delayed 2 ˝ hours,
and that was long enough for us to miss our original connection
to Beijing. We spent Wednesday night at the Hotel Nikko Kansai
Airport and arrived in Beijing early Thursday afternoon. Jenny,
our guide for Beijing, met us at the airport and got us settled
at the hotel. We then had the afternoon free for settling in,
getting our bearings, and cruising the adjacent New World
Shopping Mall.
Luke did great on both flights. He is such an amazing child. For
some reason, the Japanese ladies just love him. Must be the
eyes. We keep hearing “kawaii desu nee!” The Chinese are drawn
to him as well. At Kansai Airport, waiting for the flight to
Beijing, a Chinese man put Luke on his lap to take a photo.
Another man tried to get Luke to kiss him. Grammy was not
pleased and fortunately Luke declined the request.
China is not Japan, and we already feel it. However, we are glad
to be this much closer to Lilia. Only four more days to gotcha! |

All packed up and ready to load the luggage into the car and off
to the airport. Luke has his favorite Elmo rolling bag.
