SHAMIAN ISLAND

Well today was quite the adventurous day! We decided that we wanted to go to Shamian island today. Since we are staying off the island you either have to take a cab or the subway to get to it. Since our group is so large we decided the subway would be the better option. So we got instructions from the Holt guide and headed out after breakfast. We met up with the Cole family in the lobby and they too were going to try the subway. They brought their six kids along with them to adopt their seventh child. They also have a set of grandparents like us. So together our families made 20 people! You have to purchase the coins before you enter the subway area. It was equivalent to 50 cents each person for a one way ticket. We had to get off after two stops to change to another line. The subway cars were crowded but there was plenty enough space for our families to crowd in. I'm sure we were quite the sight! We made it safely to the island and walked around.

We visited a few shops, walked by the church that was singing worship songs, took pictures with statues, and ate at Lucy's which is an American restaurant and favorite for families.

The hotel that we stayed in last time is still being renovated. After lunch we had to head back to get our laundry. Then Hope and I took a nap while the others went swimming again.

The weather is so nice and the boys are really enjoying the pool. Tonight we went out for the group dinner. Another delicious meal. Steve was feeling sick and had to walk back to the hotel early. Please pray that he is feeling better tomorrow as we have a full day ahead of us. We a visiting the Safari park that has the triplet Panda bears!

Hope is doing really good. And today we had an active toddler running around getting in to everything in sight. At dinner she was grabbing everything off the table and ended up with food everywhere even on her foot! She still struggles with nap time and bedtime. Were hoping to get a good routine down once we are back home. Thank you all for the wonderful comments!

We miss everyone back home and can't wait to get back!
