This
adoption journey has been a step of faith from the very
beginning. Adoption has been on our hearts since before we
were married. After having twin boys, our hands were full
and life was busy! But the Holy Spirit kept tugging at our
hearts with this idea of adoption. We finally started
listening when the promptings became too clear to
discount. One night Shannon was listening to a Family Life
broadcast on the internet on adoption and that same night
Battle was traveling to visit with his family. He called
home to tell Shannon to turn the radio on- that there was
a great Family Life broadcast on adoption!!!!! God didn’t
want us to miss out on this!!! We kept coming up with
excuses even then. China had been on our hearts as well.
We kept coming across things that related to China.
Shannon even led a foreign mission study on China at our
church. Shannon’s friend told her “you’re either going to
China or China is going to come to you”. After finally
listening to the Voice of Truth, we decided to get out of
the boat and face our fears and submitted our application
for adoption on January 19th, 2005. It has been amazing to
see how God has confirmed our decision to adopt over and
over again. Throughout this process ,we have come to
realize even more that God has a heart for adoption. As a
matter of fact, adoption is the way He chose to allow us
to become part of His family! (Ephesians 1:5,
Romans 8:15)Our adoption into God’s family was meant for
His glory! (Ephesians1:6) Our adoption of Lottie we desire
to be no different. Yes, we want to meet the physical,
emotional, and spiritual needs of this one little girl,
but in doing so , we hope to bring Glory to God! James
1:27 says pure and undefiled religion is taking care of
orphans. Psalms 68 says we worship God because He is a
Father to the Fatherless, He sets the lonely in families.
We have grown in our worship of our sovereign Lord as we
have watched Him tenderly orchestrate the details to set
Lottie in our family. What an amazing God we serve!! |

The Voice of Truth - song lyrics
Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I’m in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He’s holding out His hand
But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I’ve tried before and failed
The waves keep on telling me
Time and time again. “Boy, you’ll never win!”
“You’ll never win!”
Chorus:
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, “Do not be afraid”
The voice of truth says, “This is for my Glory”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they’d have had the strength to stand
But the giant’s calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I’ve tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. “Boy, you’ll never win!”
“You’ll never win!”
But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant to the ground
And the waves they don’t seem so high
From on top of them lookin’ down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me
I will Choose to listen and believe the voice of truth!!!! |
