He Knows
My Name
I have a maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in His hands

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call
I have a Father
He calls me His own
He’ll never leave me

What’s In A Name
Soon after we submitted our initial adoption application, we
began tossing around ideas for names. The name Lottie came up in
conversation as Lottie Moon was a missionary to China. She did a
lot of her mission work with the daughters of China. She would
have cookie parties and have the girls in her home and had the
opportunity to share the love of Jesus with them. She also did a
lot to improve the status of women in China as she was
instrumental in stopping the foot binding that was going on at
the time. She actually died of starvation during a famine in
China where she gave everything she had to the people of China.
We liked the idea of naming our daughter after a woman of such
character and conviction.
Soon after this, Battle came across a devotional in his daily
reading about Lottie Moon . And then Shannon’s sister spoke of
the same devotional in Sunday School that week. And if that was
not confirmation enough- Shannon had an experience where God
made it clear what our daughter’s name would be. She was
shopping at Wal-mart and was looking at a display of Cabbage
Patch dolls. She thought our daughter would enjoy having one at
some time. With no intention of buying one, she looked over the
dolls and saw one that had dark hair and dark eyes-looking more
Asian than the rest of them- and thought-yes one like this-one
day. She pulled it closer and realized it had the birth
certificate and adoption papers (you adopt cabbage patch dolls)
where you could see them through the cellophane. The name on the
certificate was Cinderella LOTTIE!!!!!!!!! Yes! She bought the
doll with tears in her eyes and knew then that God had truly
called our daughter by name!!!!! |
