We are staying at the beautiful China Hotel in Guangzhou for the
remainder
of our stay here. How very different this city is from our last
stop
in
Nanchang. In an matter of hours we went from the very poorest
province
to
the very wealthiest. The five star hotel we are staying in is
breathtaking
to say the least (we're used to the Best Western in our
family!). Andy
and
Mia are both napping and once again all is quiet and peaceful.
We
haven't
had much downtime here and whenever we do I find myself
overwhelmed
with
emotions that are hard to explain. I feel so lucky that God
blessed us
with
another beautiful daughter. Mia is sleeping just a few feet away
from
me
and every time I look into her crib I nearly burst into tears.
She is
precious, indeed. I can't wait to find out what amazing plans
God has
for
he life.
Leaving the Jianjxi province was bittersweet. We left behind all
that
Mia
knew in her short life - her hometown, birth parents, orphanage,
care-takers, etc. I promised myself that we would come back
again
someday
as a family. Andy and I found a special souvenir that was
hand-made in
Jianjxi to give to Mia when she is a little older.
Arriving in Guangzhou was wonderful because we were quickly
reunited
with
the rest of our travel group. Oh how beautiful all the babies
are! We
have
had a ball getting to know the other families adopting through
America
World. We've laughed, cried, and prayed with them a lot over the
last
several days trying to figure out how to care for these sweet
baby
girls.
Did I mention laughing a lot? Oh my goodness! Some of these
couples
are
hilarious! We will miss them when we all go home next week, but
I know
we'll keep in touch.
Mia teaches us more about herself everyday. It's amazing how far
she
has
come in just a few days. I returned to our hotel room after a
meeting
today
and Andy told me, "oh by the way, Mia rolled over from her tummy
to her
back
while you were gone." Unbelievable. I never would have guessed
she
could
do that five days ago. She's getting stronger and more
comfortable
with us
each day. Often times Andy and I will prop her up with some
pillows
and
just stare at her, trying to discover more about her
personality, likes
&
dislikes, and weather or not she even recognizes us as people
she can
trust
and consistently rely on. What a precious life we've been given
to
care
for. God is good.

Mia waits patiently to board her very first airplane.

This is the "toothless grin" Andy wrote about.
