WELCOME TO GUANGZHOU!

What do you get when you add 7 newly adopted children on an airplane for the first time ever? Some tears, some screams and lots of annoyed looks! Oh well. For the most part, the kids pulled through like champs. We arrived at the Garden Hotel and to our delight – it is absolutely beautiful! We have a two-room suite for the last leg of our trip. Evie, Sandy and Avery are in an identical suite right next door. Two flat screens, king-size bed, HBO, steam shower, wireless, daily fresh fruit – we’re spoiled here and loving it!

The rooms are nicely carpeted, so it has been great to spread toys out on the floor and let Louisa (aka, Fangzilla) have at it. Her walking is getting better every day, but for the most part she’s still wobbly. We’ve discovered that she is just like her family and prefers to be barefoot whenever possible. She became a MUCH happier child after we took a pair of scissors to her footie pjs. Ahhh freedom! She has become more and more affectionate toward us all too. I think it’s sinking in that we’re not going anywhere and that we are here to stay. She has really been a mommy’s girl lately and is picking and choosing her moments with Charlie. We all got our first kisses from her today, so that was like a slice of heaven!

We ventured out of the hotel for dinner and had…what else? Italian! There’s a nice place across the street and we were able to get a tasty meal and, most importantly, a big glass of Italian red! Yum! We stopped at the worlds smallest 7-11 for some supplies and then home to bed. Tomorrow we get photos taken for Louisa’s visa. We’ll do some shopping on Shamian Island too, where there are many shops set up to accommodate Americans who are in China to adopt. Our first priority – a stroller. Next, pearls and jade. We’ll also have to look for another suitcase to get all our treasures home.

Until tomorrow, love to all -

Chinese traffic jam. This is supposed to be “No Car” day in Hefei to encourage the use of mass transportation. Dennis and Jane jumped off our bus to direct traffic!

Our wonderful Hefei guide, Jane.
She has been an incredible part of our experience here.

Welcome to the Garden Hotel.
From terrorist attack to wrinkled pants – we’ve got you covered!

Louisa multitasking – unpacking suitcases AND eating rice crackers.

After we cut the footies off her jammies,
Louisa was a giggle machine!
