About Louisa Cate
Not
flesh of my flesh,
Nor bone of my bone,
But still miraculously my own.
Never forget for a single minute,
You didn’t grow under my heart, but in it.
~Fleur Conkling Heyliger
After a long anticipated wait, we finally got THE call!
Our wonderful social worker, Christina O., from our
wonderful adoption agency, Children’s Hope International,
called to let us know that they had received a referral
for us...and could we be there in an hour to get it? Clear
Highway 40 – we’re on our way! We picked up Avery and made
a mad dash to CHI to finally see the little face that
we’ve been dreaming of for so long. She absolutely took
our breath away.
Here’s what we learned about our girl:
Chinese Name:
Lu Fang Lin
Date of Birth:
July 7, 2006
Location:
Hefei Children’s Welfare Institute, Hefei, Anhui Provence
The nannies at the children’s home lovingly gave our
daughter the name Lu Fang Lin. What a wonderful gift!
Lu – Nickname for the city of Hefei
Fang – (pronounced “fong”) is to describe her as fragrant
as fresh flowers
Lin – means that she is as precious as fine jade
At
nine months old, Fang Lin was 19 pounds and 27.5 inches.
She could sit by herself, use her hands to “welcome”, and
pull herself to stand and “cruise”. She is described as
outgoing, lively and adorable. She loves music and looking
at herself in the mirror. Hmmm…she sounds just like her
big sister!
We were delighted to discover that the Hefei CWI is
supported by an amazing organization, Half The Sky
Foundation (www.HalftheSky.com).
The support provided from Half the Sky allows for
additional nannies at the children’s home, which in turn
means more love, care and developmental opportunities for
the children. Louisa is right on target for all her
developmental milestones. We will be forever grateful to
Half the Sky and the wonderful staff at Hefei CWI.
1 Samuel 1:27
“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me what
I asked of Him.”
