GOTCHA DAY!
It’s Gotcha Day! I have trouble trying to put all of this into
words…thrilled, nervous, thankful, excited, nervous, sad, all at
the same time.
We met her this afternoon at our hotel. Her caretaker, director,
and a few others from the welfare institute brought her here.
We walked in the room and saw her sitting on caretaker’s lap…I
thought I was dreaming, as this is what we had done for nearly
three years. It was real, today is the day she joins our family!
The next hour and a half…it became very real: Screaming
inconsolably, us feeling so bad that she was grieving. Jeremy
was holding her and I got out the package of pacifiers. That was
what was needed to get her calmed a little. We’ve seen a few
smiles, and she ate rice and noodles, rice crackers, and orange
juice. She seems to be doing a little better now. We’ll see how
the rest of the night goes.
She is incredibly possessive of belongings. After three hours,
we are only able to change her first two layers! She is also
very neat and particular about where things belong...she must be
my daughter :)
Ethan is amazing! He’s doing everything and anything to make
this transition easier on Miss Caiya Yu Ying. Lauren is the most
helpful and encouraging young lady!
Thanks for all of the messages in our guestbook! Please continue
to pray for Caiya’s grieving of the life she knows and that she
smoothly transition into our family!
Hugs and Prayers, Stacy, Jeremy, Ethan, Sharon, Lauren.
Enjoy some pics of our day today.
