GOTCHA DAY!!!
We met our daughter today! I’ll probably keep this short and
sweet, because it won’t take too much to describe the feelings
and day. I had been so anxious leading up to this day, haven’t
really been eating much, just a lot of anticipation. Not
necessarily about meeting her, but more about the preparation
for it. But when she was carried into the room, it completely
and utterly went away! All that mattered was that sweet little
face! She is so beautiful! It is strange how much you can’t
imagine what you’ll feel exactly, but then the time comes and
it’s so easy. She is my daughter, period. I would honestly say
it’s the same feeling as giving birth in that you nervously
await their arrival, but once they’re here, you can’t believe
how much you love them, and that they are yours 100%. It’s true
of this, at least for me, that no matter how she came into our
lives, she’s 100% ours!
I’ll give a few details, because I know you all want to hear
them. She was very reserved when she was brought in. She barely
moved while I was holding her. Didn’t want to look at anything
or talk. The one thing that started to get her moving a little
was a necklace that Aron’s mom had brought with us on the trip,
and the girls had been wearing. Ryann gave it to her to cheer
her up… and it did work a little. But she was still very shy and
scared at the beginning. After doing a couple official things,
we went back to the room for only 10 minutes before going to
lunch - KFC =) In that 10 minutes, she said a couple of things.
Kyra asked her a question and she said “no”. She pulled out some
crayons and said “look”. And she had said Mommy in there
somewhere. Kyra and Ryann were so good for her, because she just
loves being with them. Here are some highlights of the day:
*Points to us when we ask her where is so and so.
*She took a little nap on my lap
*She was laughing a lot with us and Kyra and Ryann
*She is very active!!! She got herself and Ryann quite worked up
*She ate a great dinner
*She fell right to sleep at bedtime
