Greetings from Guangzhou ! This will be a quick
update because we just finished packing and in 20 minutes the
bellboy will be here to pick up our luggage. We leave the hotel
at 5:30 am. That means we need to get up around 4:00 am .
Today, as you will see in the photos, was the traditional "red
couch" photo at the White Swan Hotel with our travel group. They
girls were all dressed up in their new outfits and new squeaky
shoes. (Regarding the shoe photo yesterday, Lynnette is correct,
there was only one pair of hot pink shoes in the picture, the
others were being worn -- good observation!!!)
After the photo session we ate at Lucy's one last time with four
other families from our travel group. It was good. After that we
visited a few more shops, including Jordan's Place. If you are
coming here to adopt, you have to shop at Jordan's. He is a
GREAT GUY!!!! (Ask us about him!)
Then we were off to the U.S. Consulate's Office. It was about a
45 minute ride. Thankfully FTIA provides excellent
transportation! Unfortunately the US Government does not allow
photos inside the building. This is sad because this was where
the final part of the adoption occurred. We raised our right
hands with about 50-60 other families and became official
adoptive parents!!!! The girls will be citizens when we arrive
in Detroit . What a very special day for us. One we'll never
forget. We're the two luckiest parents alive.
After the Consulate appointment we grabbed our laundry, an
additional suitcase (we have an extra seat for the trip home, so
we can have an extra piece now) and came back and ordered Papa
John's again. We packed and are ready to crash. The girls are
sleeping soundly now.
This will be the last post for a day or two. Tomorrow (all 24
hours of it) will be traveling. We will post when we get home.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the airport! We simply ask
that we have a few days to settle in at home with the girls
because their world will be changing, AGAIN! They are going to
be so confused. (We will be too! We hear jet lag is TERRIBLE for
this trip!)
Don't worry though, we will be making our rounds to show them
off. We cannot wait.
Thanks again for all the prayers and comments during this long
journey. When started, we said it does not seem real. I think we
still cannot believe God has blessed us with two incredible
little girls! God is good, all the time! And all the time, God
is GOOD!
We will see you soon---and we'll be bringing home China's two
most perfect gifts!!! |
