Although we really
didn't go anywhere today, it was somewhat of an eventful day
anyway. We started at our usual spot for breakfast, where
Juliette had her first taste of coffee! While shopping after
breakfast there was a huge downpour, so daddy, Ryan, and a
sleeping Caroline took shelter at the youth hostel while mommy,
Shannon and Juliette went shopping. It was nice not to be stuck
in the room while it poured.
After shopping, we came back to the room to wash up, and the
maids were here cleaning our room. It does not seem to matter
what time we return, they are always cleaning when we come back!
Maybe we are just really messy! Daddy and Ryan went to the
market for some supplies, while Shannon and mommy took advantage
of Juliette's nap to start packing for home. Yippee! (Daddy
figured out that there are only 72 more hours until we touch
down at home...sounds much better than 3 days!) Things were
quieter today, we think, since it was the Mid-Autumn Festival.
It reminded us of our Thanksgiving, because things were closed
and quiet. According to our guide, it is the second biggest
Chinese holiday. Of course we had dinner at Lucy's, this time a
little earlier than normal because we ran out of things to do on
the island. After one more night, Lucy's will have its biggest
table available again! The doorbell rang when we got back to the
room and mommy and daddy asked simultaneously "we have guests in
China?!" It turns out it was housekeeping with moon-cakes for us
to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with! Once everyone settled
down again, and the girls were all squeaky clean, mommy stood
Juliette on the floor and all of a sudden her feet started to
move forward in little steps! Mommy and Caroline walked Juliette
back and forth across the room, as she smiled and clapped her
hands, happy to be on her feet! She is getting better and better
every day and today was the happiest we've seen her. Mommy got
to sit for dinner again, and Juliette ate her whole bowl of
congee, plus some French fry and grilled cheese pieces.
Tomorrow we are meeting our guide very early and heading off to
the Consulate. We have one more night left for dinner at Lucy's,
and then it's off to Hong Kong and homeward bound!
Goodnight from Guangzhou! |

Nothing like a Starbucks to jump-start my morning!

We're not sure what was so funny!

Someone's mood has greatly improved!

Do we blend? |
