SAFARI PARK AND SHOP TIL YOU DROP . . .
DINNER WITH FRIENDS
Today we were up early and had breakfast so we could leave for
the Safari Park. We met and left for the park at 10 am. Our
little peanut was a cranky bottom at first but she perked up
once we arrived. The park looks pretty impressive…we walked a
short bit to catch the train, passing by a group of school
children and taking a moment for a potty break…fyi anything
noted handicap is a western toilet…yippee for me except the
western toilet is only about 14 inches off the ground so if you
were really handicapped you might need a lift. They even had
paper and soap.
We picked up cold drinks and then stood in line for the train.
We packed in and then we were off…the first few animals we saw
were not too impressive and then we saw bears, lions, white
tigers, giraffes and zebras and tons of birds, hippos and the
list went on…it was really cool except I found myself trying to
figure out if the more dangerous animals could actually get to
us if they wanted to…I think they could…oh well we made it out!
Then we went thru the walking portion and there was a python and
apparently Mel petted it I took a quick photo and told him to
stay away and then quickly walked away so I didn’t see him pet
the snake…oh weeeee. We saw koalas, more elephants, giraffes and
several types of monkeys and then the pandas…that was really
neat. It was a pretty hot day but the park is pretty shaded and
in each section you walk thru a store sort of like Disney and
you get to cool off or have a cold snack. We really liked this
place.
After a 45 minute drive back to the hotel Mel and Emma took a
nap and I was off for more shopping…or recon I should say.
Sharon went with me and we went into several stores and found
lots of possibilities…I like Michaels for laundry and chops and
just stuff, Jordan’s has lots of nice traditional dress for
girls and backpacks, great gift ideas and I bought a puzzle map
and several other trinkets. Sherry’s place or Emma’s for squeaky
shoes..same owner, Susan’s for neat gifts and painted bottles
for thumbprint painting, for etchings a place right outside the
swan on the corn a gift of ? My favorite store is has a British
owner and most of the goods are made and funds go to the
orphanages, I think it is called from China with love or a gift
from china…my mind fails me imagine that.
We met up for dinner at Lucy’s with our travel mates and had a
great time…ice tea again for me and let’s just say Mel had a
cool one…actually 2 and a burger and me fish and chips and these
great big onion rings….a little taste of home and Emma ate some
burger, fries and some chicken quesadilla…she can pack the food
in her little body. We had a little drama, we couldn’t find our
travel mates oldest adopted son, but fortunately a few hours
after dinner he turned up…he is 11, we were all so worried. We
did more shopping after dinner and then a bath for the little
one which went much better this time. We were all pretty tired
so off to bed for us all…soooooooo tired. Best thing that
happened today…she said Momma and knew it was me….Tomorrow we
take the oath and have our exit meeting and I suppose…more
shopping. We miss our little Ellie Lu terribly and need an
update on her desperately…not too much longer and we will be
home.
