GOD IS GOOD!
We left NJ in the snow fall at 2:12 pm December 31 after a two
hour delay, and arrive in Beijing 3:45pm January 1. Since we
went over the North Pole, we never did figure out when New Years
was, or even if we ever did hit midnight at one point, so we
just celebrate NJ time. And since the family was all over the
plane, we, and when I mean we, I mean the 2 people in my aisle,
celebrated with ginger ale in plastic cups.
The plane ride felt incredibly long. Okay, so it was over 13
hours, and when you hit 8 hours, and realize you have 5+ more to
go... you just remember the final outcome, and grin and bear it.
As far as seating, John & Samuel sat together in the front, I
sat at another aisle next to another set of people who were
adopting, and my mother sat between 2 elderly chinese men in
another section.
Samuel did not sleep a wink the whole time. He figure out the
movies & gaming system about 5 minutes after he boarded, and
when he wasn't playing something, he was walking the plane. SO,
that being the case, he fell asleep in the taxi on the way to
the hotel. I mean we about had to drag him out of the van. It
was 4:30am Jersey time. He barely brushed his teeth and went
back to sleep. We will see what time he wakes up tomorrow.
And for those of you coming here at one point, The Beijing
Airport is CLEAN and quiet. It is amazing.
Tomorrow we go to the Great Wall and the Summer Palace. We were
thinking of walking over to Tian'namen Square tonight, since we
can see it from our hotel, but not so much.
It is now 6:20 am, Jersey time, and I have been awake for over
24 hours. John wants to go to the market down the street. He
slept on the plane. |
