What we know about Ava Marie we have largely invented and imagined in our hearts and minds as we wait. We look at her pictures often and Jack reads us the daily weather report for Xiangfan City on Michelle’s iphone. We hope she is well and pray that she will join our family soon. Besides our imagination we do have three pictures and this March 5, 2009 unedited excerpt written about little “Fan.”

Fan wan er, a girl, was picked up at the gate of an administration department by a police. And then she was sent to our welfare institute till now. The first time she entered our welfare institute, she wore a pair of white trousers with a little yellow. After the whole examination from hospital, they found there’s something wrong with her lips. She suffered cleft lips. And other parts were all right. According to her development of body, they estimated that she was born on May, 26th, 2008.

We gave her a nice name: Fan Wan Er stands for her lovely character. It indicated that she would be own a happy life….

Under our patient care, she stop crying while sleeping and closed her eye while drinking milk and danced a lot… She was in high spirit after sleep at night and always playing. She would shout as soon as nurse put her on bed. In order not to disturb other babies, nurses would held her in arms in turn. When she woke up, she would eat a lot. And she like to play toys. If toys fell onto ground, she would look for them in her eyes. Staring at the toys until aunt picked it up.

5 months later… she was more activity and liked to look around. Besides, she could eat more things. She could drink 130ml of milk and eat some biscuits, noodles, porridge and some soup at one time.

When she was 7 months old, we sent her to hospital to operate due to her health. She left hospital on 18th, December. After she recovered, she can drink milk by herself. She would be very happy when she saw some vegetable or eggs. She likes eating cake very much.

She likes being held up and handing to nurses when she is in her little bed. After being held up, she was so happy to crowhop on their legs. She will give you a sweet smile when she heard others call her name.

Now she was born for 9 months. Her skin is white and she is very calm. She is all right after she returned back from hospital. She likes to be held up by others till 1:30 am. The next morning, after she enjoyed milk she would fell asleep again and couldn’t be waken up no matter how you called her... . She is growing up healthily and happily.

June 5, 2010

Ava turned 2 years old on May 26, 2010. We received these updated photos of her on June 4th.
Now, I've heard of pony tails and pig tails...but does anyone know what that sprout on top of her
head is called? Opa says she appears to have "sprung a leak."
