Hi Guys! Sean, Lilli and I were so tired Wednesday evening
that we all passed out around 7:00 p.m. Lilli woke up around
10:00 pm for a bottle. She stayed up for just a while and went
back to sleep soon thereafter and slept until 4:00 a.m. All in
all, she got a lot of rest and woke up with big smiles and
grins. I think 4:00 am is our new wake up time! Hopefully, that
will change when we get back home.
Today we ate breakfast around 7:00 am and headed out for our
"finding spot" tour. The drive was about an hour and half each
way which led us to Lilli's true home town. We visited the town
of Feng Cheng which is where Lilli was left and then taken to
the Feng Social Welfare Institute, or as we sometimes refer to
as the orphanage. It is actually one of the nicer institutes and
most children are quickly sent to foster homes once they arrive.
This is a great advantage to the child.
On our way in the bus, I must have had a true blonde "aha"
moment. We are really in what is considered a third world
country!! Yeh, what a revelation, right? I think this really hit
home upon my first one on one encounter today with a "squat
pot"!!! That is all I'm going to post about that. But, I will
say, if I can help it, it will be my only one on one encounter
with a "squat pot."
I am glad we went on our tour today. Not only were we able to
visit the spot where Lilli's birth mom left her to be found, we
visited the sites of several other families who chose to go on
this trip. The people here have been very kind and seem to
appreciate the fact that we are adopting these children. I even
had one elderly lady give me a thumbs up when she saw us walking
down the street. We continue to draw so much attention. We
literally stop traffic when we walk around town with Lilli and
the other families!
We leave tomorrow to fly to Guangzhou. Everyone is looking
forward to this leg of the trip because we are ready to get to
the White Swan hotel and the area surrounding this hotel. Let
the shopping begin!
I hope everyone is doing well. I will continue to keep you
posted. |
