WOW!!! It has been a long time since we posted an update!!!

Things are just buzzing along in the Baker household. Christmas was a hit with all of the kids. It was so wonderful to see how excited the kids were and finally having Kiah here to celebrate with was amazing. This was her first Christmas ever so it was wonderful to know she was sharing it with her Forever Family. Jacob just now understands who Santa is and what he does. I think watching Polar Express 500 times has helped him along. Kiah absolutely LOVED the kitchen/grill set that Jacob got from Santa. However, Jacob wasn't too keen on sharing anything on Christmas morning!!!

We traveled a little over the holidays with a quick trip up to Pennsylvania to have our yearly Christmas celebration with Brandon's side of the family. We had a great time!!! Kiah had just turned 10 months old and while we were in Pennsylvania. she learned to walk!!! It was amazing to see this little tiny person toddling along!!! Last night she learned to RUN!!! Jacob gets down on the floor and acts like a dog chasing her and she scream with delight and RUNS away. She is just now able to better control her feet so she is not tripping and falling into everything.

We were all sick for several weeks after the holidays which made most of January a little unpleasant. We seemed to be passing a cold back and forth between each other. That finally cleared up and we are all doing much better now.

Kiah is really doing great. She has really bonded to all of us however she is still my Velcro-baby. Everyone plays with her all the time but whenever I need to do something around the house and Brandon's not around, I ask Katelyn to play with her. Now it seems whenever Katelyn tries to play with her, Kiah *assumes* that I'm leaving the room so she starts crying. Not good. We are working on this by having Katelyn and Kiah play together while I am sitting there.

She is sleeping through the night 99% of the time. A couple of weeks ago she was diagnosed with a double ear infection but a round of antibiotics took care of that. Her appetite is always GOOD as evidenced by her Buddha belly!!!

She is up-to-date on all of her shots and she has her 12 month well-baby check-up on February 22nd. KIAH TURNS 1 YEAR OLD ON FEBRUARY 21ST!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!!!!

I am trying to plan a nice birthday party for Kiah. But first we need to get through Katelyn's birthday!!! She turns 15 on February 12. (OK. I feel old now.) Evidently turning 15 is supposed to be a huge affair. I did not know this until Katelyn handed me a list of 50 kids she wanted to invite to her party. (24 girls and 25 boys. did she say BOYS... AH. NO!!!) I think the look on my face said it all. She is having a MUCH SMALLER party of 5 girls and my sister and I are taking them on a Dinner Cruise. Girls like to dress up, dance and eat so we thought this would hit the mark. Katelyn was happy with this so all is well. My sister and I will be cruising the Potomac River on February 18th with 6 teenagers.

Kiah really seems to understand the family unit and knows who lives in our house and who doesn't. She really loves Jacob but at 3 ½, Jacob is more interested in "managing" his toys then playing with Kiah. He has gotten better with sharing. Kiah has figured out Jacob's toy obsession so when she gets her hands on a toy she wants, if Jacob comes too close to her, she will HOWL and scream and hold the toy behind her back. This has escalated to Kiah howling if Jacob looks in her direction while she is holding a toy. Good thing her favorite toy is a McDonald's plastic spoon. She will carry it around for hours. She has even slept all night with it gripped in her little hand. She still remains the most easy-going baby I have ever met. She is a diva though and will let you know if she doesn't like something. I really cherish rocking her to sleep every night. It is such a quiet precious time where she just lays her head on me and gazes at me.

Until our next update..

Love to all,
-Nicole, Brandon, Katelyn, Jacob and Kiah Faith.
