HELLO FROM HONG KONG!
It is unbelievable that we’re actually here – the first leg of
the adventure begins! It’s really exciting (and it will be even
more exciting when its light outside :))
Today has been a long day - up at 5am, picked up at 7am, a 3
hour flight, a two hour layover in Newark Airport, and a 16 hour
flight – I think its been over 26 hours of travel all together,
door to door! And on top of that, about 3.5 hours sleep. But
we’re here!!
Getting through and then picked up at the airport was a breeze,
but it was a little un-nerving seeing EVERYONE in masks.
Everyone here is a little panicked over the Swine Flu, even
though there has yet to be an outbreak in Hong Kong – a
carryover from SARS days.
This is a great way to get us acclimated – people speak English
as easily as Cantonese and Mandarin. The Hong Kong Disneyland
Hotel is absolutely beautiful – similar to Disney World’s Grand
Floridian but on the water. Already we have a character
breakfast in the morning, and we’re celebrating Emma’s birthday
this trip, so they’ve set up a number of things to acknowledge
it as a special time for her.
We’re on Lantau Island, which I understand is beautiful, and I
am really looking forward to seeing it all tomorrow. Our
driver/guide set us up with step by step directions for
sightseeing our top spots, but I think with the jet-lag (and the
fact that Friday starts a huge holiday here), we’ll hit
Disneyland tomorrow during the day, and save the sightseeing for
Friday.
Emma’s been amazing – a real champ and a great traveler. We’ve
got just a few photos. Off to bath time and finally some sleep.
More tomorrow!
Love, Dawn and Emma

about 26 hours of airports and airplanes!!!!! I’ll write

Disneyland. |
