Even though we didn’t have much planned today except checking
out of our hotel by 3:00 and catching a plane to Guangzhou, it
got to be a long and busy day. Addison did however have time for
her first real shopping experience, and if any one knows Jen,
this wasn’t something that couldn’t just be done in a simple,
“there I did it” type thing. A group of us found an underground
strip mall that had many shops with all sorts of girly stuff for
them to look at. I do need to mention that Jen did expose
Addison to her shopping style; look at a lot of different
things, don’t settle too fast, and always look for a bargain!
They did a lot of shopping but not too much buying, which is
good, however, I’ve heard that Guangzhou is a shopping paradise
so I’m thinking that there will be plenty of time for Jen to
introduce Addison to the buying experience soon!
Addison had her first Happy Meal! Actually Jen and I had
Addison’s first Happy Meal, but only after we had a few pictures
taken of “Addison’s first Happy Meal” – she’s not eating any
sold foods yet, just formula from a bottle or meat congee, which
is basically mushy rice with little mushy meat chunks mixed in a
salty water base.
Between 6:00 and 6:30, I don’t remember – it just kind of all
runs together, we loaded the plane in Nanning for Addison’s
first plane ride. Everything went pretty smooth including the
take-off and landing expect that after about 10 minutes in the
air Addison not only wet through her diaper but through my pants
as well! It was warm – that was about the only good thing that
came from that experience! Jen had this experience earlier this
week so I suppose it was only fair that I get the chance to
enjoy this experience too! The man that we were seated next to
was Chinese of course and he thought that it was pretty funny
too; he said a few things in his native language and then shared
his big belly laugh with us.
When we finally got checked into the White Swan hotel here in
Guangzhou, both Jen and Addison quickly hit the sack! It was a
long day with a lot of firsts for Addison. Thinking about it, I
had to wait until I was 19 or 20 for my first plane ride and
this little girl will have two short flights and one 14-hour
flight in before she turns one year old. Incredible! What a
change is happening in her life a she seems to be just taking in
stride!
It’s crazy how fast Addison has become a part of who Jen and I
are. Jen has caught me rocking in a chair, or swaying back and
forth while standing, while she is the one holding Addison at
the time. In only a few days sweet little Addison has become a
part of us! |
Ready for the day. Such a happy girl!
Shane may not be carrying his Emma, but he is the only one of us
that is carrying any shopping bags!
Addison's first Happy Meal,
even though Jen and I ate it for
her!
Addison just got a dress, you would think that she would look
more excited! |
