Another rainy day in Guangzhou. We went to the Lai Wan Market
for lunch in our hotel. It was a beautiful place looked a little
like the Rainforest Café without the animals. You are going to
love the pictures of the grill area. Ducks and chickens hanging
up ready to be grilled for lunch. Paul looked over the menu and
we all agreed to get the noodle soups with dumplings..yes I said
it dumplings!
Everyone in this hotel is super nice. Friendly and helpful.
Grace is a terror sitting at a table, she throws everything all
over the place and creates such a mess. We try and clean up a
bit but when pieces of watermelon are 20 feet away and cheerios
all over the floor it is almost impossible.
We met Meghan and Emma in the lounge for “tea” today. Samantha
loved the jasmine tea. They serve the tea in a beautiful pot
with dainty glass cups. We are planning on meeting them for
dinner tonight. Emma and her family had their consulate appt
today and are leaving early Friday. Our consulate appt. is
tomorrow at 230pm. Approx. 50 families meet and wait for their
child’s name to be called and you are than called to take a
final oath. I will fill you in on exactly what happens tomorrow.
Funny story….even in this 5 star hotel its hard to find someone
who speaks English. Samantha had to use the bathroom and we
asked this woman where the bathroom was. She pointed to follow
her and we did. She took us outside of the hotel and into
another door. We walk in and we are in a Bank not a bathroom.
This woman was so proud of herself we pretended to go to the ATM
machine. This kind of stuff happens all day long. You order a
banana and you get a bunch of banana’s, and last night we ran
out of toilet paper, Paul was in a panic. Try explaining a roll
of toilet paper.
Tomorrow we are going to the famous White Swan hotel to take the
“Red Couch picture”. This is where all the babies sit for a
picture in their cute Chinese outfits. We are hoping to have
time to go to the Pearl market and pick up some last minute
gifts.
We have 2 more nights in the Garden Hotel and we will pack up
and go to Hong Kong.
