Very busy and exciting day. Paul and I are officially Grace’s
parents. We met our guide in the lobby at 830am and headed over
to start the paperwork to adopt Grace. We had to sign a lot of
papers and take a family portrait , plus a short interview to
assure them of our love and good intentions for Grace. Shirley
our guide was great and it went very smoothly. We met with a few
of the workers from Grace’s orphanage. They were very nice and
answered a few questions for us. We had to bring 6 gifts with us
as a token of our thanks to the orphanage workers and once we
presented the gifts we were able to leave.
Walmart is where we stopped. What an experience that was….2
floors of clothes, food, tv’s , fish market, strange food in
glass cases and not one person who speaks English. We did our
best to get what we needed and headed outside to wait for our
guide. We decided to sit on a bench and give Grace some cereal
and within minutes we were surrounded by a crowd of people
staring at us and smiling and talking to us in Chinese . It was
a little uncomfortable even for me who talks to everyone!! Paul
was just nodding , and Samantha was ready to pack it up and get
out of there. We all agreed and decided to get back to the van
and wait there.
Grace loves Samantha . She loves to be held and Samantha is
happy to hold her . Both our girls were great today. It was a
long day and Samantha never complained. We arrived back at the
hotel exhausted and we all took a nap. We are going to take
Samantha swimming later with her friend Emma.
Tomorrow is a free day while we wait to pick up her notarized
paperwork . We are planning to go to the zoo and local parks.

11:30 am here in China – sorry for late post – Grace was not
feeling well last night. She is teething and was fussy. We are
happy but exhausted!!!
A very special thank you to Joe and Jen (myadoptionwebsite) who
have done an amazing job for us. I have been having trouble
downloading pictures correctly and Joe thanks for the extra
effort. I am hoping to meet someone today to help me and will be
able to post some additional pictures for everyone to see.
