GOTCHA DAY!
She’s a dream! Today was the most emotional day
since the births of Ryan and Adam. Roy and I
both cried even before we walked into the Civil
Affairs office. The babies had just arrived by
van and were obviously bewildered. Roy sobbed as
he tried to film Ava meeting us for the first
time. She was crying, but stopped when they
handed her to me.
We brought her back to the hotel, played, and
had a bath. We dressed her in jammies and gave
her a bottle. She smiled for us, looked right at
both of us curiously, and didn’t fuss at all.
She fell asleep about 5 and we laid her in her
crib. We are not sure if she’ll wake up or sleep
for the night. She has a cold with a runny nose,
but other than that seems very healthy.
Roy and I must have been a sight trying to find
the bottle, the cheerios, the toys, the diapers.
Everything was like a needle in a haystack with
a new baby in the room. We had to open the
formula bag with a corkscrew because we couldn’t
find our scissors. She’s really a Kobert, now.
But, we got ourselves organized and actually
worked well as a team. Imagine that! We are
falling in love, again. The third time is really
a charm.
More adventures and photos tomorrow, as we
officially become Ava Claire’s Mom and Dad.
