SIENNA
NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS!
I hesitate to post
this, for the fear of worrying some of you! But, we need your
prayers for Sienna Grace. So many of you with amazing faith are
checking in on us, and we humbly ask you to stand in the gap for
us.
Around 1:00am last night Sienna woke us up with a very high
pitched sad cry. It was obvious she was burning up. The vaccines
had finally taken a toll on her tiny little body. Her reaction
to her shots was a fever of 104.9, and leg pain. The poor little
thing was so sick. But, in true Sienna fashion even at her
weakest, she is a fighter. We could not get the Tylenol in.
Finally, with some parental teamwork, we got enough down to
appease us. Then we got her in a cool bath. All of this seemed
to help temporarily and allowed her to go back to sleep.
She woke up again this morning with the same high fever. This
time we could not get the meds in. So, we reached out to our
guide for help.
After a very long morning of monitoring Sienna we took her to
the doctor at the hotel. Basically, they told me she needed
fluids, and an ice pack… Well, I needed someone to help me get
the Motrin in… After a lot of talking (ok begging) she finally
gave in and took it. They also gave me Chinese cooling packs
that stick to her forehead. They smell like some Ancient Chinese
Medicine is in there. She kept the first one on for a long time.
We are working on the second one. We have taken many baths and
thankfully she is willing to do that. She also lets us take her
temperature with no battle. We are beyond thankful for these
things.
The blessing in this is that she is willing to let us help her.
I think she is recognizing that we are here to protect her, and
love her no matter what. When she wakes up we are here. When she
closes her eyes again we are here. She even let Jeff carry her
today. It’s like the walls of Jericho crumbling ever so slowly,
one beautiful brick at a time.
We love our little girl, and we are thankful that we are here to
care for her at his moment in time. Our prayer is that her fever
will be gone soon.
The lowest we have seen so far is 102.6. For many reasons, we do
not want to take her to the hospital here in China. Please pray
that we can handle it right here in our room.
My mother-in-law sent me this verse today and it reminds us that
with God all things are possible:
~”He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she got up
and began to wait on him.” ~Matthew 8:15
Thank you in advance for lifting up Sienna Grace!
Love from China,
