ANOTHER NEW
DAY IN CHANGSHA WITH "TUNG TUNG"
We witnessed a priceless moment today as we did our first Skype
to “Camp H” since the arrival of Sienna Grace. The call was
answered by Ruby on Mr. Jon’s lap, and the first thing we heard
her say was “Ni Hao Tung Tung!”
It was one of those moments that we will never forget. Two
little girls, made in China, forever sisters now! The call was
adorable! It took Sienna a little while to get it, but once she
did she interacted with her new sister. Liz did a wonderful job
of having Ruby ready for our call. She had Sienna’s picture with
her and held it up to the screen. This got Sienna’s attention.
Then they broke into a rendition of “3 Little Monkeys” and that
did it! There was a shared Bitty Baby party, and more songs.
Cute does not begin to describe this priceless moment. We ended
our call with Miss Tung Tung saying goodbye Mei Mei! So
precious!
Next we met our group for a trip to Wal*mart. I actually had to
buy some pants for Sienna. She is very tiny on the bottom. And,
unfortunately until we get to Guangzhou I don’t have much that
fits her. It is so cold and rainy here that we need to keep her
dressed warm. Praying the sun meets us in GZ, because these
girls need to run around outside! We think this was probably
Sienna’s first trip to Wal*Mart! She loved the escalator, and
sitting in the cart. I posted a short video of her at the store
here.
We came back to our hotel for the rest of the day. Jeff and I
decided that the best chance we have of bonding with Sienna
Grace is if we rotate afternoons alone with her. So today, Jeff
took Ainsley to lunch and to the business office to work on
homework. I spent the afternoon with our precious girl.
Considering we have only had her for 2 days, she is doing so
well!! When she is sad she gets very quiet. It is heartbreaking
for a parent to watch their child grieve. Sienna’s big brown
eyes have seen a lot. And, I know she is just taking the time
she needs to process it all. Slowly she is opening the door for
us to love her. She is chatting up a storm in Chinese. We love
to hear her talk. She hums or sings quietly when she is happy.
She let me carry her today, which she has not wanted up to this
point. She always takes a hand now when she walks. She let me
cut her nails, she took 2 baths, and she loves to let me
blow-dry her hair. She has even let me teach her “kissy lips!”
Adorable of course!!
We ended our busy day at the pool!!! I am guessing that going to
the pool at nice hotel was a first as well for Sienna Grace
today! She loved the splashing, and watching Jeff & Ainsley goof
off. She has a great laugh, and she uses it a lot! There is an
expression she uses when she is excited and it sounds like, “Shaaaaaah.”
We learned it means , wow or surprise. So cute when she says it!
She is not repeating any English words yet, but we are working
on it.
Lastly, we think we have a future hairstylist among us. She
styled Ainsley’s hair with a comb and she did a great job. Maybe
she knew someone in Hengshan that cut hair. We know someone has
given her this adorable haircut! We love her Pixie doo. My blog
friend Sarah coined her haircut “The Sienna!’ I love it!
Overall, a great second full day. She is exhausted, and we are
praying for a full night of sleep. She is peacefully sleeping on
the couch as I type.
We are so thankful for this beautiful child that God has asked
us to love and protect. It is a gift to see her smile, hear her
laugh, and to watch her blossom before our eyes! That truly is
the miracle of adoption!
Blessings from Changsha,
Diana
Dear Ruby,
The very favorite part of our day was seeing your smiling face
this morning.
Sienna loved meeting her Mei Mei! And, of course we loved seeing
you! Miss Liz sent us a bunch of great pictures today. You look
like you are becoming quite the hockey player! We are so happy
that you are having fun! Thank you for being such good girl!
Soon we will be home rubbing noses with you! We can’t wait!!!!!
