All the
children who are held and loved will know how to love others…
Spread these virtues in the world. Nothing more need be done.

Leanne and Mike
Mike and I have been married for 10 years. We met because I had
a sweet student named Susan whose parents felt I needed to meet
Mike. They were right and 2 boys, 3 dogs and a decade later here
we are. I am a former third grade teacher who loves, loves,
loves being a stay at home mom. Believe me, I realize how
incredibly lucky I am.
Mike is a computer programmer with the Society of Exploration
Geophysicists in Tulsa. He loves sciency things. Especially
loves looking at the stars with his telescope, looking at
websites to buy things for his telescope, figuring out new
telescopes to buy, and how to get Leanne to agree to more
telescopes/lenses. Let’s just hope Sarah finds astronomy as
fascinating as Mike does.
The family picture is from 4 years ago and is a testament to the
fact that Mike and I are hardly ever in the same picture and how
long the adoption process can be. This picture was in our
dossier sent to China in 2006. The wait has been hard on us but
undeniably harder on Dang Yue. We’ve been waiting almost 4 years
for her, but Dang Yue has been waiting for 6 long years for a
family of her own.
Cody, 9 years old
Cody is Mr. Personality with a capital P. He is smart,
compassionate, laid back, and funny. He loves jumping on the
trampoline, playing video games, and building the most intricate
structures out of legos.
He is not shy and has the wonderful ability of making friends
easily. His dog, Goldie, is just as sweet as Cody. Life with
Cody involves a lot of laughter, energy, and a crazy amount of
legos strewn on the floor.
Ryan, 4 years old
Ryan is truly a cuddly sweetheart of a boy who will wipe away
every single kiss given him. He loves to have stories read to
him, always snuggling right up in my lap.
Ryan absolutely loves to cook. If you ask him what he wants to
do today he will usually answer, “Let’s make ….” (insert any
fattening and/or artery clogging food here). As a future chef,
he loves to cook almost as much as he loves licking the bowls
and beaters. Life with Ryan involves a lot of cooking, books,
and a truckload of stain stick.
Goldie and Boomer
Goldie is one of those happy, happy dogs. His tail starts
wagging, which makes his bottom start swaying, and pretty soon
his whole body seems like he’s just going to topple over from
all his joy. Although he likes to chew things up (we have a bald
spot in the carpet to prove it) he is extremely sweet and
loving.
Boomer is half Great Pyrenees and half Australian shepherd. She
has been with us for 5 years now and in spite of the mounds and
mounds and yet more mounds of hair we love her dearly. You want
to get rid of a salesman at the door or scare the living
daylights out of the mailman? Boomer’s your girl. You want to
see if your industrial vacuum can really hold 15 pounds of hair?
Boomer’s your girl. Let’s just hope that Sarah is not allergic
to dog hair.
Note: We do have a 3rd dog, Megan. She is an
ancient, cranky, half-blind, Lhasa Apso with a brown snaggle
tooth and bald spots on her back. She will growl like a pirate
if you dare try to pick her up. Let’s just hope that Sarah has
the good sense to leave her alone. |
