Sean (Daddy) and April (Mommy)
Sean and April have been married for nearly 19
years. They’ve been best friends since high school
and have been through thick and thin together. God
has given them five wonderful children and has now
blessed them with a sixth. They are very much
looking forward to their trip to China in late
October. April really enjoys making custom jewelry
and has been able to subsidize some of their
adoption expenses with her proceeds. Sean likes to
ride dual-sport motorcycles and frequently combines
photography as well. |
Preston, age 15
Preston is currently a sophomore in high school
where he studies filmmaking and photography in
addition to the core subjects. Last year Preston won
an award for a commercial he produced in class. He
hopes to work in the film industry someday and
certainly demonstrates the aptitude and creativity
required for it. Preston is an awesome big brother,
frequently looking after his younger siblings. Each
of them look up to him so much. Preston is active in
Boy Scouts and is currently working on his Star
rank. |
Soren, age 13
Soren is in 7th grade and is a very talented artist. He was recently asked to paint a mural of
the seven ancient wonders of the world in the
teachers’ lounge at his middle school. Out of the
entire state of Oregon, Soren has won awards from
Oregon Right to Life twice, by best representing the
gift of life through his drawings. Like Preston,
Soren is a great older brother, frequently pitching
in to look after his younger siblings. Soren is
active in Boy Scouts and is currently working on his
2nd Class rank.

Gavin, age 11
Of all the kids, Gavin seems to be the one most
interested in anything that requires physical
activity. Gavin is in 6th grade and does well in
school. He plays inline hockey in a city league and
thoroughly enjoys getting geared up and smacking the
puck around. If not sports, he can usually be
found covered in camo and shooting his buddies with
airsoft guns. He is also active in Boy Scouts and is
currently working on his Tenderfoot rank. Gavin
is a very loving boy and dotes on his first sister
from China. He’s very much looking forward to not
being the middle child anymore. Gavin will be
traveling with us to bring Gemma home. |
Keaton, age 7
Keaton is our fourth son, red hair, and he’s all
boy. Keaton is currently in 1st grade. Keaton’s
favorite pastime is to load up a backpack with
treasure and head into the forest in our backyard
for hours with his pals. If there are such things as
monsters, Keaton has already imagined what they all
look like. When asked to draw portraits at school,
invariably the subject has several eyes and sharp,
bleeding teeth. Keaton just wrapped up a few weeks
on his school cross-country team and enjoyed racing
in his half-mile runs every week. Like his older
brothers, Keaton is following in the family
tradition of joining the Boy Scout program. He
started as a Tiger Cub this fall. He and his sister
Ava have become very close and cause as much
mischief as possible. If it’s quiet, you need to
find out what Keaton and Ava are up to right away! |
Ava, age 3, almost 4
Ava is our first daughter from China. We adopted Ava
when she was 18 months old and she’s now been home
just over two years (her adoption blog is linked
above). Ava came with more energy than the other six
of us combined. Keeping up with her keeps us young,
probably because of the workout it requires! Ava
enjoys half-day preschool three days a week, where
she is right in her element and an excellent
student. With four older brothers, we’re not sure if
Ava will really take to dolls and other girlie
things – but she can sure fight zombies and ninjas
all day long though! Ava absolutely loves gymnastics and
we believe it’s her calling. Her cardiologist once
told us she probably wouldn’t be an Olympian, but he
simply doesn’t know her well enough. |
