ALL IS WELL.
It’s Wednesday evening and all is well. The little ones at home
are getting ready for their third day at school. I have tried to
not think about it too much but it really makes me sad that I
wasn’t there on their first day of school. I miss them more than
I could have imagined. The big kids have seemed to manage
everything at home perfectly. I am very proud of them.
Today was pretty uneventful. We had our consulate appointment
and everything went very well. Tomorrow we take the oath at the
US Consulate and then we can focus on going home.
We found the children’s wholesale clothing/shoe market this
afternoon. We, along with two other families, spent all
afternoon there. It was absolutely crazy but lots of fun. We all
went to McDonalds for lunch. It is always an adventure. The
McDonalds (there are many) are much smaller than in the US but
with a lot more people and they usually consist of 2 or more
floors. There are no elevators. Combine that with many curious
observers and it makes for quite an outing. The wholesale market
isn’t a typical outing for adoptive parents, or any westerners
for that matter. Most of the vendors spoke very little English.
We had lots of fun and will have many stories to share.
Our guides have been amazing. We have had Jason before but just
met Kathy this trip. She is very sweet and both are extremely
competent. One of the best things about CCAI is that there are
no worries. We feel very comfortable letting them handle
everything.
The girls are doing great. Emily is still talking non-stop. She
is very animated when telling her stories. We can’t wait to have
someone tell us what she is saying. She likes all of her things
to be in their place and her bed is perfectly neat. She gets
VERY upset if you mess it up. She is very generous and shares
everything with her sister. We are loving getting to know this
precious little girl. Olivia laughs all the time. She is a very
happy and silly child. She can tell you off in a minute but is
all giggles the next. She isn’t eating nearly as much as she did
the first couple of days, and that’s telling us that she is
learning to trust. Both girls go to bed easily and sleep all
night. We have had to wake them up every morning. Unfortunately,
the ones at home won’t follow their example. They are up early
every day. Well, I guess I better say goodnight (good morning).
Thanks for all your prayers.
Love,
Frank, Jennie, Emily & Olivia
