Just a quick note to say we're doing great. We're leaving
for the airport in 15 minutes, then we homeward bound! I
contracted some sort of disease that had me in a sad and sorry
state for about 24 hours so I didn't have an opportunity to
write. Could be the water (although I've been doing my best to
avoid it) or it might've been something I ate. Regardless, thank
goodness it happened to me and not the munchkin. Interestingly,
when I was in my weird, sleepless sleep, I had a weird
nightmare. Eric and Nola were out walking the neighborhood
(which they were) and they were accosted by a group of Chinese
who had been watching us and had decided that Nola was far too
precious and intelligent to allow to leave their country. They
wanted her back because they considered her to be a national
treasure. It was just a bad dream...but a funny bad dream.
Oh, and BTW, we're official. All of our paperwork passed with
flying colors and we collected Nola's Visa at the US Embassy
yesterday. Nola is officially our daughter...and nobody can take
her back. I suspect she'll be a national treasure, of both the
US and China.
See you back at the ranch!!
