OUR DAY AT THE ZOO
Put away the tissue...I swear to goodness, this post will
NOT make you cry.
We went to the zoo today and it was cool. Nola loves loves loves
animals. She really loved the part where we got to ride in a
little train and look at the animals that weren't in cages. She
sat at the edge of my lap and just bounced with excitement,
shrieking and pointing. It was awesome.
Then we walked around the regular zoo part and looked at lots of
different kinds of monkeys. Not sure why, but Nola didn't really
engage with the monkeys. Sadly, the panda room was crowded and
Nola didn't like that at all.
We were joined at our lunch table by a group of locals that had
brought their own picnic. We were particularly intrigued by what
appeared to be the pickled chicken feet...still with the little
claws. Hmmm.... They did share their beer with Eric though, so
they were welcome table guests.
We're settling into life at the White Swan. Nola loves to watch
the koi in the indoor pond and she really loves the buffet
breakfast. For as long as she has been with us she has enjoyed a
breakfast buffet every morning. Our real-life might come as
quite a letdown to her. We decided to take it easy this evening
so we ordered pizza with our friends Deb and John and their wee
one, and we ate in our room. Papa Johns at the White Swan. Oh
yea.
It's really wonderful to watch Nola warming up to Eric. They had
a GREAT day together. He took her to the business center to make
copies and he gave her a bath and she shared her Cheerios with
him and he fed her pizza and now he's reading her a book called
"Eating the Alphabet". She's on the other side of the room
staring at herself in the mirror and he's reading, " ...leek,
lemon, lettuce, lime, melon, mango, nectarine, okra..." Oh wait.
Now he's switched to reading to us out of the latest issue of
Cycle Sport....and Nola just climbed into bed. She will fall
asleep to his soft voice and tales of intrigue and strength. |
