A WALK IN THE PARK
We had pretty good night last night
considering, but Miss Ellie Lu is again
running a low grade fever. Despite this she is
still full of energy enough for us both. This
morning we played “tag team” Mel went down to
breakfast while I dressed the “princess” just
as we were finishing…let’s just say “nature”
hit and I needed about 12 hands, but I made it
on my own. We arrived at breakfast in time for
Mel to give Ellie Lu her bottle and then feed
her Congee (rice porage). While I ate he took
her out of the area as she was not happy
sitting still. I ate in peace and then joined
them while Mel was showing her the fishes in
the streams in the lobby.
We went upstairs and readied ourselves for our
daily outing…a walk in the park. It was really
lovely, I had Ellie Lu in the Ergo and she
loved the slight breeze and the movement. We
were able to see the locals doing Tai Chi and
other types of exercise. The park was full of
people of all ages. One man spoke English and
talked to us. Others spoke to us thru our
guide. One lady fussed at us all for having
our girls in packs, she said their bones were
too soft and it would make them bow legged.
Toward the end of our trip it was feeding time
so we fixed a bottle on the “fly” and she took
it while we finished walking…while in her
Ergo. When we arrived back at the hotel she
went down for a nap. While she I went to the
electronics store with Sissi to get a cable to
download my movies. Then Mel ordered us some
French fries from room service…they are almost
like home…everything else has this “flavor” to
it almost like fish. We have been pretty
adventurous…but sometimes you just need
comfort food. We all napped a bit then Sissi
ordered us pizza and it was pretty good…maybe
a little on the greasy side but pretty good.
Also our travel approval came in so that is
good news that gives us permission to leave
the country with Ellie Lu.
We had a pretty easy night I gave her a bath
in the sink and she went down at 7 or so and
we were not far behind her. At about 9 or so
the phone rang and it was Lisa telling of us
about a chance to visit Poyang Town…the place
where Ellie Lu spent her early life. What a
dream come true…we never imagined it was
possible…answered prayers. The drive is long
so it is not good for us all to go…I hope to
go, but I am so sick right now. We will decide
in the morning. At 10 or so Lisa called
back…one of us is going to Poyang Town
tomorrow for sure.
Firsts:
• She will now reach for me when I hold out my
hands to her to pick her up…Em she smiles and
grins and reaches back.
• She is now babbling music like songs to
herself…Em and Mel
• Mel fed her Congee for the first time.
• First walk in the park…Peoples Park Em and
Mel
• First temperature taking from her bottom…she
does not like it at ALL…Mel
• First time she actually touched her lips to
mine for kisses…she was so sweet and smiled
the most precious smile...Em
• First time Mel rocked her to sleep…he loved
it.
In one week we leave to come home…we
anticipate this with great joy and sorrow too.
What a beautiful country our daughter is from
and taking her from her homeland makes me sad.
This is all she has ever known…I want her to
know what we have experienced and how much she
was loved by both her birth Mother and her
Nannies….as well as ALL those family and
friends who wait to meet her.
She is such a precious, precious child with so
much vigor and spunk she is ready to laugh and
squeal in an instant. In only 3 days it seems
we have been together forever. We know when
she is hungry, sleepy, has a wet diaper and
when she just wants to be walked. She has this
cute way when she goes to sleep…she rubs her
eyes and puts her hand to her mouth almost
like to nurse or suck her hand and you can
hear the sound. She likes a soft blanket up
around her face and she may even suck on a
corner of it. I think one of the most precious
times is seeing her fall asleep or wake up.
She really only cries when her diaper needs
changed and then it is almost a whimper or if
she is sitting up and tips over….then she
really wails as it scares her and also ticks
her off.
Dear Little Ellie Lu you have stolen our
hearts and we can’t wait to get you home so
others can witness ALL THAT YOU ARE.
Love,
Em and Mel |
