TIANANMEN SQUARE
AND TEMPLE OF HEAVEN
We had a pretty busy day yesterday and
received updated information on Ellie Lu as
well as 4 precious pictures. We talked about
what today would be like as a group, then had
a rather spicy lunch together.
We loaded up after lunch for Tiananmen Square
and it was extremely hot as today was a clear
day in Beijing. Most people had umbrellas to
protect them from the heat. We took a group
picture and listened to our guide speak of the
significance of the square and then we were
off to the Temple of Heaven. It was very
beautiful and there were so many locals
gathered singing and playing chess or checkers
or other games. It was quite a treat to
experience this.
Afterward we came back the hotel and were just
beat. I also was a bit queezy from the spicy
lunch and still feel a bit green, could be
nerves also could be the one time I
accidentally put my toothbrush under the
"filtered walter" spout in the sink which
should be okay, but I don't trust it. Thank
goodness for tums and then immodium, but still
my tummy is cramping and it kept me up quite a
bit last night. I finally went to sleep at 11
pm and was up again at 2 and then slept on and
off until 5. I feel pretty fresh except for my
tummy. Mel has slept like a champ so he is
really fresh. He is so excited, yesterday when
they handed out the updated information the
guide handed it to him and I got a
picture...melted my heart.
I spent the evening reorganizing our 2 tons of
luggage and trying to get the things we would
need right away in a small carryon. They
haven't shown us how to make the bottles like
the babies like them yet, hopefully tomorrow.
Not much more for today other than we ALL are
anticipating meeting our children and all that
comes with that. Today was our last night…just
US…pretty soon we will be the “terrific
threesome”.
