THIRD TIME IS A CHARM
Well we are sitting in the President's club
watching planes take off and just
relaxing....AMAZING today we were met by Robyn
(Continental employee) who was our guardian
angel and put us both in first class hugged us
took pictures with us and apologized for all
that we had been thru...she was great but I am
thinking my long email to Continental
yesterday is now attached to our file and
maybe now they will treat us like humans. She
even looked ahead and did what she could to
make our checking in China for our return
flight go well. She gave us her address to
send a family picture. I am pinching myself
thinking did we really go thru 2 bad days when
so far today has been delightful. In 1 1/2
hours we will board our plane flight CO 89
arriving in Beijing at 2 PM China time 2 am
for those on east coast time. We will be met
by a guide and taken to our hotel where we
likely will just hang out maybe walk around.
Tomorrow we meet our travel group and tour the
Great Wall and also take a Hutong tour should
be ALL that we have looked forward to for
quite some time. Then on Saturday we have a
group meeting and touring in the afternoon
where we will meet a local family and see how
they live and then on Sunday we will fly to
Nanchang for the most glorious day of all we
will meet Ellie Lu and hold her for the first
time...typing that made me cry...all good and
first time crying today. Yesterday I was a
mush pot but all for different reasons which I
have now blocked out of my mind. Mel is doing
well his neck bothered him some last night,
but felt better this morning. He made me laugh
so hard this morning. We were all "cheesy
tourist" when we were waiting for the train
and he took my picture and then said..."your
fly is open" OMG it was and you can see it in
the picture we laughed so hard. Normally
it is Mel that has this problem. On our
honeymoon in Mackinac we were in the Grand
Hotel and the shopkeeper in the tea shop
whispered to me "your husband's fly is
open"...I wondered why she noticed it has been
a 9 year joke with us.
Well Mel just got back with some Chinese money
and we both noticed Duncan Donuts is right
below us...maybe a donut or 2 for the flight
might be a nice treat. I also will have power
for my laptop...imagine all the journaling I
can do in 14 hours...carpel tunnel here we
come.
Our flight is delayed and we had a bit of a
false alarm thinking it was cancelled. I
checked in with the lounge and they were
giving out vouchers for lunch. The agent
suggested Mel and I have a Amaretto Sour to
“take the edge” off. I didn’t even have to
relay the message and Mel showed up with us
each one, just what we needed after the last 2
days. We also met a nice business man who was
also going to Beijing and we had a nice chat.
Soon they announced our flight was boarding
and you can’t imagine the butterflies that
were dancing in my tummy.
Thanks for all your love and prayers it is
looking like this will actually happen. We
will email as soon as we can and hope to blog
often and if nothing else send pictures. If we
have trouble with blogging my niece Frances
will blog for us.
Love,
Em and Mel |
