A Love Song for
our Daughter
A few months ago I
was getting pizza at the mall and the restaurant was giving
away free music CDs in the lids of their large drinks. So I
found myself with a CD of some teeny-bopper teenager named
Jesse McCartney, whom I had never heard of. I decided this
would be perfect to give my nieces who are teeny-boppers
themselves
I was on my way to
give it to them when I decided maybe I better listen to it
first before giving an unknown CD to impressionable pre-teens.
I never got past the first song – Beautiful Soul.
Although this was
not my usual type of music, I listened to the lyrics and
realized – this is my love song to our daughter JacJac!
So here it is:
Beautiful Soul
by Jesse McCartney
I know that you
are so special
To you, I'll be
always faithful
I want to be what
you’ve always needed
And I hope you’ll
see the heart in me
I don't want
another pretty face
I don't want just
anyone to hold
I don't want my
love to go to waste
I want you and
you’re beautiful…
So, you're the one
I want to chase
You're the one I
want to hold
I won't let
another minute go to waste
I want you and
your beautiful soul
You might need
time to think it over
But I'm just fine
moving forward
I'll ease your
mind -- give me the chance
I'll never make
you cry c'mon let's try
I don't want
another pretty face
I don't want just
anyone to hold
I don't want my
love to go to waste
I want you and
you’re beautiful…
So, you're the one
I want to chase
You're the one I
want to hold
I won't let
another minute go to waste
I want you and
your beautiful soul |
So, I admit, I am
definitely not as deep as those of you who have claimed that
Steven Curtis Chapman song for your daughter (which, BTW,
brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it). But I’m glad we
found a song for JacJac.
