EMMA FINALLY WANTED HER MOMMA . . .
CHURCH AND SHOPPING
We all woke up refreshed and feeling good and I could tell Emma
was feeling much more secure. She led me to get her milk and
actually had me dress her all by myself. We had a nice breakfast
and shortly thereafter were off to church, some of our friends
we met in Nanning also came with our group. Church in Guangzhou
was one of the highlights from our first trip and I just can’t
say enough about what it is like to attend church in a foreign
land. This is a little snippet from my entry in 2008…
The service was very beautiful and it was in both Chinese and
English. It was one of the most spiritual services I had been
to. The church was standing room only and there were even people
outside. The music was so nice.
Again attending church here was amazing and most amazing is
during some of the music Emma reached out to me asking me to
hold her…to say I cried was an understatement, she eventually
went back to Daddy, but came to me several more times, to say
this did my heart good is not enough….for anyone that has gone
thru what we have experienced this past week you know how
helpless you feel when you can see your child hurting, but they
won’t let you in, today I know we are making progress for sure
and everything is going to be alright.
After church I again brought in food from Lucy’s, our little one
much prefers burgers, fries and quesedias to any congee or
dumpling or noodle which I find pretty funny. On the way back
from Lucy’s a local college grad requested to have has his photo
taken with me and Sharon, he was so cute…his Dad, brother and
sister were taking his picture here on the island in front of
pretty buildings. I am sure is Dad is so proud of him…we were…
Nap time for Daddy and Emma and Mommy is off to shop…jade and
pearls here I come…groceries too.
We met our guide and another couple from another group came
with…2 taxis. The 2nd taxi got lost and we were frantic
something happened to the other couple…finally we all met up and
begin our pearl shopping. I quickly found my shop and picked my
pearls and watched the gal make my pearl necklace, bracelet and
2 pairs of earrings. Then we went to the jade shops and I found
Mel a nice jade piece and bargained the shop down quite a
bit…that whole experience made me sweat. Then I found a jade
bracelet for me and and again bargained to the point of walking
away and came back and got a little more off, the guy was not as
happy as I was. What a hoot bargaining is…
Off to Carefour with Sharon…everyone needed groceries it was
crowded…we browsed most isles just taking it all in…no photos
not sure why and then we navigated the line and paying. Back up
on the street we had a little trouble getting a taxi to take us
back; only when an unmarked car showed interest in getting our
business did a taxi stop and rescue us…12 RMB later we were back
at the swan with our goods.
My girl was so happy to see her Momma…life is good here in
Guangzhou. Back to Lucy’s for ice tea and some taste of home
with good friends. Tonight I had the burger and Mel had a rice
and pork dish…Emma had most of my burger and fries. We walked
around a little after dinner as the rain last night cooled off
the air considerably, then we headed back to the hotel to begin
our evening routine…tonight she let me dress her for bed and she
wanted to lay down on me…I keep joking Mel that he is losing his
Daddy Momma title…I think he is glad to have a bit of relief. He
still is mostly who she wants if outside the room, she wants him
to carry her, hold her hand and feed her mostly. We can still
see the progress and as she has gotten more comfortable we can
see her sweet, spicy personality shine thru…We just can’t wait
until we are all together… |
