Today was our final day in China. We made a quick trip to the
toy market this morning, and I made a few interesting purchases
for my kids back home. The consulate appointment was at 3:30
this afternoon and thankfully, everything went off without a
hitch. We came back to the hotel and met up for a final going
away pizza party in the White Swan playroom. I really enjoyed
getting to know everyone in our group, what an awesome group of
families! After dinner Stef and I rushed around to make our
final purchases, we managed to spend every single yuan we had
exchanged, pretty impressive!
Yesterday was spent at the Guangzhou park, where Cole ran around
and soaked in all the scenery. Later in the afternoon we were to
meet for red couch pictures and, unfortunately, I had to wake
Cole so we weren't late. He wasn't quite awake and he definitely
was not prepared for the experience of the red couch. But we
managed to get a few handsome pictures of him, regardless. After
red couch pictures we went on a Pearl River Cruise. The buffet
was an adventure, Stef and I had skipped lunch so we were a bit
more adventurous than usual in our food choices. All I can say
is thank goodness for the ice cream dessert! Cole loved the
boat, the river and the beautiful lights being reflected off the
water. It was a fun packed day, so many wonderful memories have
been made on this trip to China for Cole.
We leave for the airport first thing in the morning. Needless to
say, we are exhausted and so ready to be heading home! We have
managed to get all packed and ready to go, it amazes me that we
were able to fit everything we brought to China as well as
everything we bought in China into 4 (okay, very large)
suitcases. Let's just hope that none of them are overweight!
Thank you so much for following our journey to Cole, what an
adventure it has been. We have so enjoyed our time in China, and
our guides, Lily and Rebecca, have been fantastic. They have
kept us so busy with fun things to do, fed us such wonderful
food at the best local restaurants and taken such great care of
us as well as our adoption paperwork, the time has just flow by
since we arrived in Guangzhou. We really have enjoyed every
minute here.
I can't wait to get home with my little bundle of energy. And
everyone at home is so excited to finally meet him! If I can
just get through the long journey home. We leave Guangzhou at
9:30AM and Cole and I will be arriving in Atlanta about 28 hours
later, at 11:30PM Atlanta time (1:30PM China time). Please keep
us all in your prayers for no missed flights, bad weather or
lost luggage!
