Tuesday-Wednesday,
September 1-2, 2010
Our morning started extremely early and we eagerly got ready
with anticipation and excitement lacing the air. Our airport
shuttle arrived punctually (thank you, Ryan) and we were on our
way. The first flight was smooth and went without a hitch. Once
we got to the San Francisco airport, we learned that our next
flight had a three hour delay. And so we walked and walked and
walked. There would be enough sitting very soon.
Once we boarded for our flight to Beijing, we settled in for the
12 hour trek to the other side of the world. Fortunately, the
flight went very well. We slept, we ate, walked a little, then
we slept, we ate, we walked a little and then just repeated
several times over. Soon the city lights welcomed us and we
descended into a now familiar place. Taking in the sights and
sounds felt like greeting an old friend. However, this trip we
have my father-in-law, Winston, along as well as our first-time
traveling son, Bryce. Both were looking around and taking in the
new sights, sounds, and smells.
We were relieved that all of our luggage arrived. We soon found
our guide, George who greeted us with his hearty smile. We
arrived at our hotel and felt like weary travelers ready to set
our heads on our pillows for the night. For the most part, we
slept sound and felt refreshed in the morning.
