It is probably inevitable that on every adoption journey
you'll have a few bumps in the road. Ours was minor, and makes
for a good story . . .
From here on out, assume that we had a "big, delicious
breakfast at the buffet." We then met some of our group for a
trip to the Guangzhou zoo. We were really looking forward to
this, as we love zoos and would finally get to see real, live
pandas! However, breakfast must not have settled well in Anna
Kate's stomach this morning, because while on the bus ride to
the zoo suddenly she and Joe were wearing it. And a few minutes
later, while trying to clean everybody up, so was I. Joe had no
choice but to take off his shirt, and we had to strip Anna Kate
down to her diaper. We entered the Guangzhou zoo feeling rather
conspicuous . . . . you can imagine that a tall Caucasian man
wearing nothing but shorts and crocs, carrying a little Chinese
baby wearing only a diaper drew some stares. Unable to find
t-shirts for sale, and unable to take the stares and pointing, I
bought a bottle of water and "washed" the clothes . . . better
to be damp and smelly than naked, I always say! The rest of our
time there was enjoyable - - it is a neat zoo with lots of
interesting animals. We lost track of time and before we knew
it, it was time to leave. And we hadn't seen the pandas.
Back at the room Anna Kate struggled to fall asleep for her nap,
and she was a little fussy the rest of the day . . . I think she
is having some stomach discomfort, as she is eating more solid
food than before.
All in all, it was
still a good day, and one day closer to being home! God has
blessed us immensely and we are grateful for this entire
experience . . . bumps and all.
Next update will be Sunday morning, recapping both Saturday
and Sunday.
Big Sis Blog
We went to the zoo
today. We saw the most interesting animals. There were tigers,
and ligers, and white pelicans, and whooper swans, and hippos,
and white lions, and regular lions, and a cub, and a gorilla,
and baboons, and monkeys that went crazy. We had quite a day at
the zoo. On the way to the zoo, Anna Kate threw up.
I
didn't blog yesterday, because I was too tired to remember. |

Damp, but
dressed and
ready to see some animals!

Adrienne is
enjoying having her own camera -
thank you, Aunt D! |
