The next morning at breakfast he ate a banana, a yogurt, 2 eggs,
toast, milk, juice, rice, a small spinach roll, and finished it
up with the rest of hope’s cocoa cereal. It’s like he’s never
eaten before. Our guide said that he is used to eating whatever
is placed before him. So, we are doing better with that now.
Today, we went back to the civil affairs office to make our
adoption official. We stood in front of the red wall and they
presented our certificate and handed Micah a stuffed panda. We
had our photos taken and then headed to the police station for
getting Micah’s passport ordered. Before I go on I need to add
that Hope has been doing well with everything up this day. She
has been up a lot during the night so when it comes nap time she
wanted to continue to sleep on through to the night. She is
quite a creature of habit so switching her sleep times has been
close to impossible. After getting the passports ordered, we
headed to the market. We did some shopping, bought a few items
for ourselves and some toys for Hope and Micah. This was very
difficult for me since the only person he lets hold him is me.
He weight about the same as Hope. (Not kidding) So any chance I
got I let him walk around. Water here is very expensive since
you need to drink it boiled to be safe, so we bought a bunch so
we wouldn’t have to but the six dollar bottled water in the
hotel. Lunch time came next. Guess where Hope wanted to go? KFC.
They have them everywhere. It’s similar to ours but Chinese
style. Hope and Micah played in a play area in the corner which
has a slide and some climbing areas. We played with 2 other
Chinese boys about his age. Hope is idolized here because of her
light colored hair. Our guide said that in China the people
think that any child with blondish hair is one of the most
beautiful in the world. Everywhere we go people just stare at
her. People even stop to take pictures with her like she is a
celebrity. She loves it. We are asked by many, if we are
Chinese? People look at Micah and say, he is Chinese? I say yes,
he is, they look puzzled. I don’t think people in China are
aware of adoption. Strange?
Next we headed home for a nap again. This time Hope wouldn’t get
up. She slept from 1:30pm to 1:30am. This meant room service for
dinner. We ordered a rice dish and a pizza from pizza hut. We
ordered pepperoni and they called it American style pizza. We
were worried what might come, but it was very good. Micah of
course ate anything we handed him. That night was rough.
Starting at 1:30am, Hope woke us up every 30 minutes to ask if
it was time to get up yet. Steve and I took turns playing with
her and coloring. When she is awake, she is awake. So when
morning came, we were more tired than the night before. |
