Today was filled with
many events. First we took Chloe for her visa photo early in the
morning. Then we took her to her medical exam. It was very
crowded, hot, and humid in the clinic. Not only do all adopted
infants and children go through this clinic before obtaining
their visa, but also any Chinese person seeking a US visa for
work, visiting, or immigration. Chloe did very well and I was
excited to see the clinic in person that I had seen so many
times on other adoptive families websites.
The next stop in our day was the Pearl Market. Jason, our guide
taught us all about pearls and how to tell the real from the
fake ones. The Pearl Market is famous for their pearls and great
prices. We picked out a strand of salt water pearls for each
girl and watched as the store attendant tied them into
necklaces. These will be the girls' Wedding Pearls. It will be
nice for Chloe to have the necklace from her homeland and it
will bring special memories for Whitney.
After the Pearl Market, we walked around Guangzhou Square for a
little bit. It was neat, but we did not stay long because it was
very hot. We took a taxi back to the hotel.
Our evening ended with the Pearl River Cruise. The views were
amazing! Per Jason's suggestion, we ate Papa John's pizza on the
cruise instead of the usual buffet. Apparently, the cruise
serves chicken feet and other Chinese favorites that we are not
accustomed to eating.
We had such a great day, and I am thankful for all we got to
experience and for all of life's blessings.
