NI HAO!
We had a fantastic day today! Whitney is feeling better and was
able to enjoy the whole day. We started off with an interesting
breakfast. Even the "American" style food was different except
for Whitney's Cocoa Krispys. Then we went to Tian'an men Square,
which is the main entrance to the imperial palace from the Ming
and Qing Dynasties. Behind the Tian'an men Square is the
Forbidden City. It is where many past emperors lived clear back
from 1406. The architecture is amazing, and it was really neat
to be standing where such history took place!
After visiting the Forbidden City, we took a rickshaw ride
through the old part of town - Hutong Lane. That was soooo much
fun! The rickshaws took us to a local family's house, where we
ate lunch. That was the favorite part of our day! It was so cool
to see how the Chinese live in their homes and to eat the food
they normally eat. It really was delicious!!! I will have to
send pictures of that later. I had so many beautiful pictures
today and I lost them all on my phone. The pictures I posted
were what I could salvage up from Brian's phone.
Looking forward to tomorrow!
Love, Brian, Erin, Elijah, & Whitney
