We’re home- I know, I know, you’ve all figured that out already. I’ve gotten all of the “threatening” emails and voicemails that I’d better hurry up and post something. Well here it is….

We left Guangzhou, China on Saturday, November 18th to Hong Kong around 6:30 pm. We arrived in Hong Kong after the short 45 minute flight and had about 2 hours before we boarded our flight to San Francisco. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and went the various security check points to get to our gate. Mylee flirted with all of the guards at the final checkpoint. Daddy was not happy :0)

The flight home was 11 hours and Mylee did fantastic. We had purchased a seat for her and were assigned bulk head seating as well. The extra legroom in bulkhead was wonderful and we had the entire row to ourselves. She slept in the bassinet for a couple of hours but every time we hit turbulence we had to take her out so it didn’t work out too well. She slept on Daddy almost the entire flight. She got lots of compliments from the passengers who sat next to us as we disembarked on how wonderful she did. We are so proud of our baby girl! Mylee became a US citizen as soon as we landed in

San Francisco. We were very emotional when her paperwork was stamped in immigration line that got us one step closer to home.

One the drive home, she did not like the car seat and cried herself to sleep. It was very hard as we had been up for almost 24 hours at that point. Once we got home we received a wonderful welcome from our family. Grandpa, Grandma, Auntie Patty, Frankie and especially big sister Mia was very excited to finally see the newest addition to the Sablan-Reynon family. Mylee’s ninas- Jessica, Dris & Melissa had decorated the house full of balloons to welcome our precious one home. Mylee was excited to see everyone and especially the balloons. Thank you ninas!

We’ve been home a little over a week now and we’re still exhausted! Mylee has yet to realize that we are in a different time zone and does not like to sleep until around 4:30 am. Needless to say, this has been hard on all of us. We’re trying everything that we can think of to get her to adjust to the time but no luck so far. On top of everything else, everyone but Mylee has a cold. We still had a wonderful Thanksgiving with so much to be thankful for.

Mylee’s health has improved tremendously. Her eye infection has cleared up and she’s no longer congested. She’s putting on weight (thanks to Grandma) and is even eating baby food with a spoon. Her muscle tone is also developing nicely. In the first week and half that we had Mylee, she could not sit up at all and could not stand even when holding her. She was very weak. Now she can sit up almost all the way without assistance and when holding on to my fingers, she can stand up straight and bounce! When lying down, she can roll over and scoots to get anything in her sight. We’ve had one visit to the pediatrician already and have a full physical scheduled this week.

It’s hard to believe that our time in China has come and gone. We waited for such a long time to be united with our daughter and to visit her homeland. We had a wonderful time in China and made some precious friendships that we will always treasure. We hope to one day return and show Mylee the beauty of her country but also plan on teaching and exposing her to as much of the Chinese culture that we can. We hope that she will grow up to be proud of her heritage as well as value the wonderful culture of her forever family.

This truly has been a journey of a lifetime and we thank God for blessing us with this awesome gift. Mylee has brought so much more joy into our lives and I can’t remember what it was like without her. Thank you all for your prayers, support and comments along the first part of Our Journey to Mylee and we hope that you continue to follow our new journey as we plan to update this site monthly.
