We have made it to the famous White Swan Hotel
on Shamian Island in Guangzhou. It is so late as
our flight was delayed for 1 ˝ hour from
Nanchang. All the parents were nervous about the
babies’ first flight. Ava was so good. She did
not cry. However she sang, yes sang at the top
of her lungs to anyone who would listen. She
waits for you to look at her then gets up on her
tippy toes and belts out her voice for your
approval. It’s like “oh, you’re looking at me.
Let me sing you a song!” It’s just so funny.
Fortunately the nice man sitting in our row
thought she was cute and was not annoyed, but
amused. We felt sorry for a few of the parents
with screaming babies. 26 in all from different
agencies and provinces. We decided there should
be a horror film titled “Babies on a Plane”
starring Samuel L. Jackson.
In the airport, Ava laid her head on my chest.
She looks at me and smiles. And she reaches for
me when she sees me. I am so in love. When she
is laying on me, she will reach over to feel if
Roy is still close by. We are her family, now.
Some ladies in the airport were oohing and
aahing over her. They looked at us together and
said “she is close to you…her mama.” I beamed.
We can already tell this is a 5 star
hotel. The standard of living in this city is a
world apart from Nanchang. |
