HAPPY
BIRTHDAY!
Today we will be celebrating Sienna Grace’s fifth birthday! Much
has happened since we came home from China in March. A
little over four months ago!
Sienna has blossomed here as we prayed she would. She is
beautiful on the inside and out. When I look back, it is amazing
how far we have traveled together!
In April we made the decision to have Sienna join Ruby at
pre-school. This ended up being a wonderful decision. She loved
going to school, and she learned so much in a short period of
time. Not only did she thrive in this group setting, her English
improved very quickly. By the time the girls had their final
pre-school program at the end of May, Sienna was singing every
song and doing every action. It was amazing! Her English is
fantastic! We have witnessed English Immersion first hand! She
understands everything now, and can communicate beautifully with
us. Unfortunately, she does not want to speak Chinese anymore,
so we are trying not to push her. Our desire is for her to keep
it!
Having three girls has been crazy. Everyone is finding their way
and their place! Ruby has had the biggest adjustment. She loves
Sienna, but sharing her entire world has been a process. When
the two of them are getting along, it is precious. Daily they
are playing house, Detective Ruby and Sienna, Polly Pockets, or
some other fun game. It is a blessing to see them become friends
and sisters! They will go to pre-school together again in the
fall. Sienna continues to adore Ainsley. There will always be a
special bond between these two girls!
We have been blessed with a daughter who easily adapts to new
situations. She has done well at Sunday school, and Pre-School
activities. She likes social settings. She is also very smart,
very focused, and fun! My prediction is that we have a budding
surgeon in our home. She has such a tender heart when someone is
sick or hurt! I love this about her. It goes so beautifully with
her spicy and brave side. There are so many amazing things about
Sienna Grace.
I think Sienna has adjusted and bonded in such a healthy way to
our family. She loves us. Especially her Mama! And, of course,
we are crazy about her! When Jeff is gone she wants to know
where he is… If she is hurt, she wants me to call him
immediately. It is adorable! We have come a long way together
since those first days in Changsha. She talks about that time
now. She remembers a lot, and we are learning so much about her
life there. Thankfully, she was loved in China, and she knows
that!
Do you remember Sienna’s best friend in China? If not, you can
read about her in the “Journey to Sienna Grace tab” here. We
have now seen Shaelee twice, and it has been beyond priceless.
These two little girls are truly best friends!
Sienna’s health has been good! We have been so pleased with our
choices for her medical care. In June Sienna had dental work
done. We are so thankful for how well it went. She looks
beautiful, and she feels better! Her Thalassemia has been very
manageable. We see her doctor on a monthly basis and we are on a
treatment plan. We are very encouraged by how well she is doing
overall!
I could go on and on about the miracles I have witnessed in four
months with our new daughter. God has faithfully been with us,
as we have become a family of five.
So I close my last post on Sienna’s website with a grateful
heart! Thankful for the opportunity to record our journey here
at MAW! Thankful for all of the prayers that have been said for
our family since the day we decided to go back to China!
Thankful to be celebrating her birthday with her! And, so
incredibly thankful for the little girl who tells us she is
happy here! When Sienna sweetly tells you she loves you, your
heart melts! We love you too, Sienna Grace. Happy Happy
Birthday!
Blessings,
Diana & Jeff
