About Kristen

"For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Here is our precious Kristen! We first laid our eyes on her on June 5th, 2006, and have been falling in love ever since then. Her Chinese name is Jiang Xin Yue. In the event your Chinese is a bit rusty like ours was, here’s the meaning and pronunciation:

Jiang: surname representing the city where she lives (“ji-ung”)

Xin: heart (Like “single”)

Yue: cheerful (Like “book with “y” in front)

From the moment we saw the first referral picture, we felt we could see Xin Yue’s “Cheerful Heart” in her smile and her eyes! We knew right away that we would keep her Chinese name and make it her middle name.

We have been given a somewhat limited report about Xin Yue, which stated at 8 ½ months:

She is quiet. She has big and pretty eyes. She has fair and delicate complexion. Everybody loves her. She lifts her head and smiles at you when she hears her name. She can play with toys. She can move around sitting in the walker. She can stand. She likes to be held. She likes toys that make noise. She likes playing with water. Every time she takes a bath, she splashes. She cries only when she is hungry or when she wets the bed.

Kristen was born with a cleft lip and cleft palate. While we were doing paperwork to ask permission to adopt her, we received information that her first surgery, a lip repair, had been done successfully on May 19th . Upon coming home, Kristen will be seen by a team of doctors, and within a matter of months she will have a surgery to repair her palate.

We can hardly believe that this beautiful little child of the Lord will soon be ours! We have waited longer than expected to travel, and are thankful to finally have our Travel Authority. As difficult as it has been to wait, we trust that God is sovereign, and there is a purpose in our traveling at this very time. As it stands, we will be leaving for China sometime around November 21st, give or take a few days. As we prepare for our journey with excitement, please join us in praying daily that God will prepare Kristen’s heart for the journey that lies ahead of her.

Cheerful heart at 8-1/2 months
