ADOPTION REGISTRATION AND NOTARIZATION
AT THE LOCAL CIVIL AFFAIRS OFFICE; SHOPPING FOR CHILDREN'S
SUPPLIES
Our Princess slept 11 plus hours….too bad
Momma woke up at 4 and then at 5 and finally got up at around
5:30 am for good. I did feel rested and so happy that Emma slept
so well. She woke up quietly and slowly and actually layed in
her bed looking around she didn’t cry when she saw me and she
sat and bed and played with Mel for a bit as well. He finally
got her out and she went straight to the potty…she had a dry
diaper. Don’t be surprised as she didn’t really eat the night
before and only drank a little. I gave Mel some water and she
took a huge gulp of it out of a cup. She seems subdued but not
crying, holding on to Mel and sucking her thumb. She allowed Mel
to wash her off and dress her with no issues. She wore an 18-24
month bubble that Ellie wore last year on her gotcha 1 year
anniversary. I hung on Emma especially around the arm holes. We
put on a white sweater and that helped. She wore some size 5
shoes I brought…her feet are slender and appear long but
probably slightly shorter than a 5. We all went down for
breakfast and I gathered the food while Mel got Emma settled.
She refused to eat…I nearly panicked, but then we noticed when I
left the table to get more food, she would eat but not in front
of me. So finally I left for about 15 minutes and Mel said she
really packed it in.
We waited in the lobby for our guide and then we were off to
have our adoption registered and notarized. We went to same
building as yesterday initially and she didn’t cry just clung to
Mel. I was able to get several questions answered from the
Orphanage staff. We then were asked several questions…”did you
know this girl was special?”, “are you willing to adoption a
special girl?” We they had a totally different meaning than we
did for “special” I am sure but yes we know she is
special…especially chosen for us and oh so lovely…yes we want to
adopt her…you crazy little lady so ask the questions and let us
get on our way…We left there and went to the notary and we had a
breakthrough…Emma actually let me give her a treat and she ate
it…and wanted more and more and more…yogurt bites. Whoohooo!
Again more silly questions…”did you think long and hard about
this adoption?” yeah we have thought about it for ummmmmmmmmm
years! Anyway after that we again trekked to Wal-mart for a cup,
Emma won’t drink out of anything but a cup period…we found a cup
and she actually pointed to the milk she wanted. We got formula
as he still has a small cup twice a day…I may begin doing 3
times as she is tiny…teeny tiny, her bottom is the size of a
“pea”.
We came back the hotel and had lunch…congee for Emma, burger and
fries for Mel and club sandwich sans cucumber with fries for me.
We have an American girl already, she refused congee and ate her
weight in fries and had about 10 bites of Mel’s burger…she even
ate in front of me. Halleluiah is all I have to say about that.
After lunch we came back to the room and Mel held her and in
literally seconds she was asleep. Nap time for all but then I
woke up….might be time for some sleep assistance for me. She
woke up happy and we all played and she even allowed me to play
too. I got my first smile of her by saying “boo” and she just
giggled.
We have learned when she is tired she holds her arm out and
cleans house, knocks whatever off of what it is on or throws
things…we will work on this. She also can get a bit boisterous
and sling her arms, mostly she is sweet but I think her lack of
language frustrates her and she uses physical means to get her
point across. I hope in time and with language this will stop.
She likes to put things in their place and if she sees my camera
will bring it to me…I believe right now she thinks of me as the
camera gal and sleeper hold lady. We had a nice dinner and she
had fried noodles and ate her weight in them…loved them and her
milk. After dinner I made her first formula and she smacked her
lips in delight, nearly drank it dry. I rocked her in many
positions and she finally fell asleep on my chest looking into
my eyes and then she took a deep breath and was out. My heart is
full with her, she is trying to trust me….really likes Daddy and
will listen and has gone potty for him and tells him when she
needs to go. So far no wet diapers….blessings of the day…she is
eating, drinking, allowing me in, smiled and only cried briefly
mid day and allowed me to hold her and sooth her. Thanks for you
love and kind messages…it means so much. Tomorrow we are going
to the local zoo.
