Wishing you a Happy Easter ! All the way from China !

I am so very special, I have been from the start. Before they held me in their arms, my family held me in their hearts. And like a single drop of rain that on still waters fall, My life and love will ripples make and touch the lives of all. So read this precious story as step by step I grow. I am a blessing and a gift as each page here will show. ~unknown

We had a FABULOUS day ! We enjoyed many activities that local Chinese people experience daily. My guide told me I have never taken a tourist to the places you want to visit. I told her I have friends from Japan and when I visit Japan I live in their home with the family and do what their family does. I told the guide I want to experience the real China.

We were on our way to Xingquing Palace Park and our driver turned town a street and their was a local market. The driver did not know the market was going on, but needed to use this road to get to the park. I said to our guide I want to get out of the van and go to the market.
She explained their are so many people and I worry about you. I explained to her I will carry Elliott and only take my point and shoot digital camera and my wallet and we are good to go. So the van driver stop and we jumped out. I was so excited to experience what local Chinese people experience at market. There were many food vendors the guide encouraged me to try some local food. I was very resistant at first because I have been told to not eat any food from a street type vendor due to sansitation in China. So my guide ordered me a dough rolled out in front of me, filled with ingredients, and fried. I asked the guide what the filling was and she told me she did not know the translation. It was very good taste and a little hot and spicy. We continued in the market bartering for a cute pair of boy shoes for Elliott, 2 pairs of pants and a shirt for Ethan, and a pair of pants for Elliott with 3 little cars down the leg. My guide insisted we look for clothing for me. I told her I am a big mama and will not be able to find something in my size. My guide spoke to the vendor and out came several shirts in my size. The guide held Elliott as I tried them on over my clothes and to my suprise we found a perfect shirt for me. I was so excited. I get lots of great Chinese clothing for my children, but I have never got anything for myself. The locals were very interested in Elliott and myself and was asking the guide all kinds of questions. The crowd was heavy and lots of congestion.

Our van driver called the guide, he found a parking spot and wanted to bring us Elliott's stroller. We met up with the van driver, put our goods in the van and walked out of the market into Xingquing Palace Park.

At Xingquing Palace Park was a large lake with many people boating, animals, amusement rides for children. We walked around and then at lunch time called the van driver to meet us.

Lunch was cold noodles a local favorite for lunch. I enjoyed the cold noodles they were a little spicy.

After lunch we went to the Muslim section for a Shadow Puppet Show. I purchased some shadow puppets for my children to play with. Shadow puppets are made from ox leather.

We are back at the hotel and Elliott is tired. So we are headed for a bath.

Enjoy your Easter !

Love and miss you all,
Elliott and Mama.

Enjoy the pictures !

We went to a local market this morning and I found many colors of peeps for Easter.

We rode like the locals and rode with this driver. Renting the scooter is more common because it can go faster through the traffic than a taxi.

Mama and Elliott after our ride like the locals in the scooter.

We stumbled upon a local market outside Xingquing Palace Park. My guide encouraged me to try some local food from the food vendors. I tried one and it was very good !
