February sure came and went …in a flash! My snow suit theory was sort of shot to heck as winter finally decided to arrive and intensely sought to make up for lost time. I think Malia was totally fascinated by the snow - and being the high adventure child that she is = She LOVED sledding!

We had several firsts - the most significant for Mom was having to leave Malia for the first time. Malia did great and even Mom survived as I realize this is the beginning of a life time journey of learning to let go. Nana Dee has taken on the loving task of caring for Malia when the need for overnight care arises and Aunt Kyla has also penciled in her times to help with Malia as my work has me traveling a lot this spring.

Malia is adjusting well to her important work of play at Miss Ruby’s every day - There are three little boys she gets to play with every day and I suspect she’ll have a well rounded “education” in the world of toys = embracing cars and trucks as much as babies and tea sets!

Church continues to be a significant part of our life - we had the opportunity to gather with other young families in our church for an evening of Wonder and Worship experience. Malia finds church and all the wonderful people there to be a safe and hopeful place.

Clearly, Malia has a great desire to talk - the wires aren’t quite connected in that realm of her brain - but I sometimes think listening is or in many cases as important - if one is to be a true student of life! She understands and is comprehending most everything it seems! It’s fun to watch her personality develop and I have become very aware of how she mimics so many things that I do! SO - I am trying to lead by careful example. My heart turns cartwheels whenever I see her eyes light up - a smile covering her face - and a WHOA or WOW or even UH-O come out of her mouth. She takes the simple things in - and is learning that bumps in the road can provide a nice jolt - but can still be embraced with full gusto and even delight!

One of the families that was with us in China who lives in Louisiana - have a precious daughter name Breann. Breann contracted a virus that seemingly attacked her heart. We pray daily for this child and her family as she is currently in Arkansas Children’s Hospital awaiting a heart transplant. Breann’s Mother continues to inspire me as she walks this most difficult road with her daughter - with the strongest faith ever to uphold her during the more tenuous moments. I know that there are folks all over the world praying for this child - and may the prayers continue!

The February snow just melted this past week - we hear, see, feel and believe Spring is right around the corner. So much to look forward to as we are able to be outside more!

As we await the changes that new seasons bring - I am reminded that there is a time - a season for all things…And I close with a quote sent by Cynthia McCrae - indicating author is unknown . . .

“All kids are gifted, some just open their packages earlier than others”

Happy Spring from our home to yours!
